Iran and Hezbollah Working with Mexican Drug Cartels to Smuggle Nuclear Materials into the US

Israel is reporting on an Iranian long-range missile program that would be capable of reaching the United States. A separate report from their Intelligence chief says Iran can make nuclear bomb within a year. This missile program underwent a setback in December when an explosion occurred at the facility but no estimates were presented on when this missile will be mass produced. With Ahmadinejad’s request yesterday for a 127% increase in Iran’s defense budget, I don’t believe they are funding internal border security. However, they may need part of this increase to build a new line of drones.

The following excerpt may be the most important part of the article since Iran now has enriched uranium to the key 20% level….read more from NCRenegade

Israeli Facilities in U.S., Worldwide on High Alert Against Iran

Israeli facilities worldwide are on high alert against an attack from Iran, according to an internal security document obtained by ABC News.

“We predict that the threat on our sites around the world will increase … on both our guarded sites and ‘soft’ sites,” read a letter by the head of security for the Consul General for the Mid-Atlantic States, ABC News reported. Guarded sites are government facilities like embassies and consulates; “soft sites” are Jewish synagogues, schools and community centers.

Police and intelligence officials in U.S. and Canadian cities — including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Toronto — have increased patrols at Israeli government locations and Jewish institutions, ABC News reported….read more from Newsmax

Former DEA Chief: Hezbollah Eyeing Southwest Border, ‘Hell to Pay in the Not Too Distant Future’

(by Penny Starr) The Iranian-supported Shi’ite terrorist group Hezbollah has spread its influence all the way to the U.S. border with Mexico, a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Iran’s influence in the Western Hemisphere heard on Thursday.

Michael Braun, a former chief of operations at the Drug Enforcement Agency, said Hezbollah had developed relationships with the powerful Mexican drug cartels to “move their agenda forward.” He cited a plot, recently uncovered by the DEA, involving an Iranian operative in Mexico allegedly planning to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, D.C.

“Hezbollah are absolute masters at forming close relationships with existing organized crime groups around the world that helps them facilitate what they need to do to move their agendas forward,” Braun told CNSNews.com following the hearing. “And if anyone thinks for a moment that they don’t have their eye on the southwest border and all of our country, then they couldn’t be more wrong.”….read more from CNS News

Earthquake swarm in Katla volcano caldera

I realize the conspiracy/disaster websites are all abuzz with possible Katla eruption stories but there is nothing new from veteran vulcanologist Jón Frímann in Iceland. Below are excerpts from his two most recent posts which are now a few days old:

Skeiðflöt geophone is up and running [31 January 2012]

Today I started the geophone at the farm Skeiðflöt. It is just south of Katla volcano. Some setup spikes are on the webicorder plot at the moment. But they should be clear off in the next 24 hours.

Currently there is bad weather in the area and it seems to show on the geophone at Skeiðflöt. But this new geophone adds to the sensitivity of my network and allows me to see earthquakes down to ML0.0 in good weather taking place in Katla volcano….Read more

Earthquake swarm in Katla volcano caldera [31 January 2012]

This morning there was an earthquake swarm in Katla volcano. This is the first earthquake swarm of the year 2012. This earthquake swarm is most likely created by an dike intrusion. Based on how dense the earthquake swarm appears to be. But that is often an sign of an dike intrusion in an volcano. How this earthquake swarm is going to evolve over the next few hours impossible to know for sure. That depends on what the magma is going to do that is creating this earthquake swarm….Read more

Solar flares: Earth hit by biggest space storm in almost seven years

(by Andrew Hough) A powerful solar flare has unleashed the biggest radiation storm in nearly seven years as the Sun bombards the Earth with huge amounts of energy.

Large swathes of the planet were hit by the geomagnetic storm amid fears the biggest storm since 2005 could disrupt important communications.

Astronomers warned the storm could affect airline routes, power grids and satellites with the worst of the storm likely to go north of Earth.

But the storm has created a positive side effect with some countries in Asia and Europe, including Britain, being witness to spectacular displays of the Northern Lights at night….read more from The Telegraph (UK)
